All of our volunteer foster people will always remember the special friends, both dogs and adopters they have come to know. While it is sad that there is a need for this kind of work we are happy to be of assistance. If you would like to volunteer please feel free to contact us and we will be glad to suggest ways you can help with our program. If you are not from the PA/NJ region we can put you in contact with a Regional Coordinator in your area.

Brittany rescue serves many functions. The main one is to help find suitable homes for Brittanys in need. Due to the limited number of foster homes, sometimes rescue is only able to make referrals to the shelter or owner. Another funcion of rescue is to educate. This involves providing information on dog ownership in general, Brittanys, grooming, and training advice. We also promote responsible ownership and breeding practices. Brittany Rescue is sometimes the last chance for a Brittany. The dogs are owner give ups, strays, or come from animal shelters. Most of the dogs are young adults to seniors, with very few puppies.

Our goal is to rescue, evaluate, and rehome needy cocker spaniels who would otherwise be euthanized due to time and space constraints at animal shelters. We hold a kennel license issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, which subjects our facilities, records, and dogs to twice yearly inspections by the State Dog Warden. Each cocker spaniel is evaluated for conformation, temperament, and health before it is accepted into our facility. We are very limited in the number of dogs we are able to help, so our first priority is cocker spaniels in kill shelters. Owner surrendered dogs are accepted on a space available basis.

Additionally, these dogs are brought up to date on shots, spayed/neutered and placed on preventative heartworm. We are very selective in our adoption process. After completing the questionnaire, you would be put in touch with a foster home that has a dal that might suit your lifestyle, or you will be informed of dals that are available in shelters near you. We have very limited space, so we cannot take owner turn-ins into foster, but if the dal is spayed or neutered, we will list them on our website.

Serving ME to PA
The English Springer Spaniel Club of Long Island was founded more than 30 years ago; its Rescue program was started in 1988. We are a group of unpaid volunteers from Maine to Pennsylvania. Every year our organization places approximately 100 abused, abandoned or unwanted Springers into new homes. Some of these purebred dogs come to us through local shelters; some come to us due to the death of a former owner, divorce, a new baby, move to a new house, small apartment, etc. Weve even heard of dogs who no longer fit into the family because the  decor of the home was changed! When we find a Springer in an animal shelter, we bail it out, nurse it back to health, clean it up, neuter it, give it its shots, and live with it in one of our foster homes for a while to evaluate it and allow it to get over the loss of its former owner, then we place it with an appropriate family.

The USKBTC is the AKC parent club for Kerry Blue Terriers, and works with its members and chapter clubs to rescue and rehome Kerries. All dogs are carefully evaluated in foster care, spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, and have any health issues addressed before they are placed. Anybody interested in adopting should fill out an adoption application on our website and also contact the nearest chapter club(s). There is no fee to apply to adopt a dog, though we normally request a donation to offset our expenses if we place a dog with you. We accept owner-relinquishments and Kerries from shelters and other sources for evaluation and placement; however, we will not purchase dogs from auctions, pet stores, or from their owners or breeders. We also try to help owners with issues related to training, grooming, and other aspects of owning a Kerry as we believe that the best kind of rescues are the ones we can prevent from happening in the first place!

Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue (BLRR) is a non profit volunteer organization that specializes in placing Labs and Lab mixes. Between 1997 and 2005, we placed about 400 Labs in their forever homes and we currently place an average of 100 dogs per year. We maintain a regularly updated list of available Labs that are being given up by their owners (but still living at home) and dogs pulled from shelters and placed in foster care with our volunteers. We evaluate both the dog and the prospective adopting home to help ensure a good fit for everyone. All dogs are vet checked and their shots updated before they are adopted. BLRR serves areas of Pennsylvania and New Jersey depending on the number and availability of our volunteers.

Nearly all breed clubs have rescue committees who put forth great effort to save their own breed from euthanasia in shelters and dog pounds. The LBRT is comprised, in part, of those members of the Breed Specific Clubs and Rescues as well as members from all breed rescues and volunteers that have no other affiliation. Depending on how many active foster homes we have at any given time, the LBRT saves, rehabilitates and re-homes as many dogs per year as we can possibly handle. Within the first year of its existence; and operating without officially incorporating; LBRT has rescued a total of: 39 Leonbergers, 13 Newfoundlands, 52 Kerry Blue Terriers, 2 Shiba Inus, 2 American Eskimo;s, 2 Pug Puppies, 3 Standard Poodles, 1 Cocker Spaniel, and 1 German Shepherd. Youll notice that several of these are not Large, or Giant Breeds. The purpose of LBRT is to focus on those specific breeds, but we do what we can, where we can, and when we see the greatest need.

Twin Tiers Rescue is a rescue group helping displaced small dogs (mainly Pomeranians and Pekingese) in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey find new, loving homes. All dogs receive necessary veterinary care, including vaccinations and spay or neuter. The dogs are kept in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted into a new, permanent home. Foster homes are a vital part of our rescue as some of these dogs have never known love or kindness. Fostering allows them to learn how to trust and live indoors in a family environment. We are always in desperate need of foster homes. If interested in applying to become a foster, please email us.

Due to lack of volunteers at this time, we are restricted to adopting only within SOUTH CENTRAL PA.
Our dogs are extremely important to us, and we consider them part of our family. Each dog that comes into our rescue program is placed into an appropriate foster home. We get to know the dogs on a personal level, and find out their likes and dislikes, and what they need in a forever home. We place our dogs into homes that are appropriate for their needs. We strive to match the right dog into the right home. Sometimes the dog you are interested in may not be the right dog for you. The adoption process can be a lengthy one, but as our previous adopters will tell you, it's well worth the wait.

We are an incorporated non-profit group of volunteers that help to place dogs that are no longer wanted by their former owners. We believe in doing quality placements so we do require that prospective adopters fill out and return an adoption application. This is a way for us to help match dogs to families. We acquire as much information on the dog as we possibly can and relay this information to the interested families.

SAYRescue is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) qualified, all volunteer organization based in southeastern PA. We do not have a shelter or kennel nor do we want one. We take dogs into foster homes for their care. Our mission is to save Yorkies and Yorkie mixes who need help finding a home. We also pledge our efforts to educate the public about the needs of this tiny breed. Since that auspicious day four years ago, we have saved and placed over 500 Yorkies in the very best homes - each family thinks THEY adopted the best dog. We place our dogs by matching their needs and your preferences.
